About the Internships:
OHB Hellas is expanding its activities in on‑board high‑performance computing for European space missions. We are offering three internship opportunities within the Orbital HPC Team, focused on advanced embedded systems, AI‑based on‑board processing, and next‑generation space computing architectures.
Interns will join real engineering activities, work with senior Orbital HPC engineers, and gain hands‑on experience with technologies used in operational space projects.
AI & On‑Board Data Processing Intern (2 positions)
What You Will Do:
- Support the development and optimisation of neural‑network‑based models for on‑board processing.
- Contribute to dataset preparation, preprocessing, and evaluation workflows.
- Assist in prototyping machine‑learning algorithms in Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
- Participate in model optimisation for embedded or resource‑constrained hardware.
- Help integrate and test AI algorithms on experimental on‑board computing platforms.
- Document technical results and support internal reviews.
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers in the Orbital HPC team.
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Master‑level background (on-going or completed) in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, AI, Data Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with machine learning or deep learning concepts, computer vision frameworks.
- Basic experience with Python and ML libraries.
- Ability to work in Linux/Unix environments.
- Basic experience with C/C++ or embedded platforms
- Good analytical and communication skills.
- Very good English.
Embedded Systems Intern – Orbital HPC (1 position)
What You Will Do:
- Support development and testing of embedded software and FPGA‑based components.
- Participate in hardware bring‑up, lab measurements, and debugging.
- Contribute to implementing algorithms on embedded processors and digital logic.
- Assist in rapid prototyping and validation activities.
- Prepare documentation, test logs, and internal engineering reports.
- Collaborate with senior engineers during integration sessions.
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Master‑level background (enrolled or completed) in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with FPGA concepts and digital logic fundamentals.
- Use of FPGA toolchains (Vivado, Quartus) at beginner level.
- Basic knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Ability to work in Linux/Unix environments.
- Interest in space hardware and high‑reliability systems
- Very good English.
