Abous Us:

OHB Hellas is expanding its embedded systems and on‑board high‑performance computing activities. We are looking for an Embedded / Hardware Engineer to contribute to advanced on‑board data processing solutions for current and upcoming European space missions.
You will join ongoing engineering activities and work within a multidisciplinary environment covering embedded systems, firmware, software, and data processing.

Job Overview:

The Embedded / Hardware Engineer strengthens OHB Hellas’ capabilities in advanced on‑board processing and embedded systems for space missions.
The role supports running internal and external activities, contributing to next‑generation on‑board high‑performance computing solutions and embedded hardware architectures.
The position requires technical ownership, hands‑on development, and collaboration within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead technical activities in the area of high‑performance on‑board data processing and embedded hardware.
  • Analyse system and mission requirements and contribute to architecture, design, and specification definition.
  • Develop embedded solutions involving FPGA, processors, and high‑reliability hardware platforms.
  • Implement algorithms on FPGAs and embedded processors using VHDL, C/C++, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Execute rapid prototyping and proof‑of‑concept evaluations for new technologies and methodologies.
  • Contribute to proposals and technical volumes for ESA, Horizon Europe, and other tendering processes.
  • Produce and maintain ESA‑compliant technical documentation (ECSS standards) across project reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with software, firmware, and data‑processing teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Support design reviews, technical meetings, and engineering coordination activities with partners and customers.

Profile We’re Looking For

Education

Master’s degree or PhD in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, AI, or related field.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the space industry or in an equivalent high‑reliability embedded systems domain.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an industrial engineering environment with autonomy and accountability.
  • Practical experience in ESA projects or European R&D programs.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems and Unix‑based environments.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and scripting tools.
  • Experience with FPGA development and implementation flows.
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards, on‑board software development, and verification practices.
  • Competence in algorithm implementation for resource‑constrained systems.
  • Experience in distributed computing, cloud/edge computing, computer vision, containerization, hypervisors, space/time partitioning.
  • Understanding of AI/ML development lifecycles and common NN architectures (CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, MobileNet, UNet, ResNet, TinyYOLO, etc.).

Languages

  • Enligsh. It is a plus to have either: Greek, German, French.
